At the Institute for Crystallography, we use a wide variety of X-ray and neutron diffraction methods in the laboratory and in large research facilities to study structure-property relationships of materials. We deal with current issues in the areas of nanomaterials, heterogeneous catalysts, energy materials, magnetism and single crystals. In order to understand the functionality of these materials in applications, we are further developing scattering methods in the laboratory and in large research facilities.

We bring our research interests into various coordinated programs - within RWTH Aachen University, in cooperation with other German universities and research institutions, but also in a strong international network.
